The First Month

There were 13 puppies in Alexander's litter, 7 boys and 6 girls. The first month of the puppy's life is mostly sleeping and eating and keeping warm next to Mom and the other puppies. Occasionally one moves away from the pack and finds a cozy place to sleep all by himself. The puppies have different colored collars to tell them apart. Alex had the turquoise collar, one of my favorite colors, the color of Mediterranean oceans and beautiful gemstones. There is nothing cuter than a puppy and watching the many stages of growth. And there is nothing like the day you bring your puppy home!

Misty

This is MISTY, Misty Mountain's Miss Independence, and Alexander's Mom. She is a wonderful Mother and beautiful sweet Labrador. I am so happy that I got a chance to meet her when I came to take Alexander home. Misty was very attentive to her 13 puppies and she did a great job feeding them and making sure they were safe and clean. She and Zeus created some really pretty puppies and I'm sure she will continue to produce great puppies in the future.

Alexander's Sire, Zeus

Zeus is an incredible Labrador. CH GINGERBRED"S CELESTIAL THUNDER, a multi Best of Breed and Group Winner he is recognized as a top ranking Labrador Retriever. He is currently the #2 Labrador in the country. A handsome yellow Lab, he is substantial in every way and has a robust and muscular build. I noticed Zeus many times at various dog shows in Northern California, not knowing where he was from or who owned him, I eventually had to know. When I found out he was planning litters, I decided I had to have a Zeus puppy. His home is near Seattle, Washington with Misty Mountain Labradors, a very magical place in the midst of giant redwood trees and lots of roaming space. Along with his fabulous show career, Zeus is known to be a great hunter and a formidable couch protector as well. You can see the many traits that were passed on to him by Chute and Noodle, and together with Misty, a lovely foundation Bitch at Misty Mountain, Zeus has produced many fabulous offspring, including our very own Alexander.

Heritage

CHUTE and NOODLE One of the great things about having a pure bred AKC Registered dog is that you can trace the lineage for several generations. I would like to introduce you to Alexander's Paternal Grandparents, BISS CH Sunset Lubberline Spinnaker "CHUTE", and Ch Gingerbred Pasta Luna "NOODLE", both having a breeding foundation from the top Labrador lines in England such as Sandylands, Rocheby, Dickendall, and Poolstead. Chute, born on o1/31/04, grew up in Michigan at Lubberline Kennels, a family who combined their love of sailing with their love of the Labrador. As a two year old Chute won the Labrador Retriever Club of the Potomac Specialty under the judging of Breeder/Judge Betty Graham. Noodle had the good fortune of being bred by Christine Tye of Gingerbred Labradors in Sonoma, California on 08/04/2002. Both Noodle and Chute have lovely type with nice top lines, angles and heads. I particularly like the eyes which you will see have been passed on to their offspring, Zeus, Alexander's Sire. Alexander will continue these great lines of Labradors to show in the ring and other activities. He is already proving to be a water dog and retriever and carries the intelligence and instincts of a hunting and field dog.

Misty Mountain's Chariots of Fire.....Alexander

Welcome to Alexander's new Blog, a pictorial journal of his life with his best buddy, Hummer, a 4 year old Newfoundland and Champion Show Dog, and the developments of his show career. A yellow English Labrador, born near Seattle, Washington on November 24, 2009, Alex will be eligible to show in AKC competition at the age of 6 months which will be towards the end of May. His first show will be in Placerville, California at the Hangtown Kennel Club show Memorial Day Weekend along with Hummer who will be competing in the Newfoundland Ring. Sired by Zeus, a Top Ranked Labrador in the United States, Alexander has big paws to fill. His Dam, Misty, of Misty Mountain Labradors, is also a lovely English style yellow Labrador who exemplifies all of the wonderful qualities of an English hunting Labrador. Beauty in color and conformation, the English Labrador is a competitor in the show ring as well as field and hunting competition.
Alexander is named after his historical namesake, Alexander The Great, son of the Greek God Zeus; a fierce leader, confident, fearless, and independent, Alex shows all of these qualities and more as a young pup. He is intelligent and has made fast friends with his Champion Show Dog brother, Hummer, Ch Karazan H2. Alexander with his lovely coloring, straight top line, perfect elbow set and a rear assembly that will WOW any judge in the ring, shows all the traits of a typical Labrador puppy. He is content, happy, healthy, and eager to learn. He is a joy to live with and is my Newfoundland's best buddy as they enjoy friendly sparring and walks together in the park. They share everything from bones to backyard nooks and bedtime tv-watching. Starting his young life in an Olympic Year, Alexander will be a formidable competitor and will exhibit all the qualities necessary to be a Top Show Dog for 2010. Alexander will live up to his namesake and historical legacy.
